Hillside to Host Cardiac Rehab Open House
9/28/2011
Free treadmill to be given away to one lucky visitor.
It’s only been a few months and Hillside Hospital has helped heal nearly thirty hearts in the community. The outpatient rehabilitation program for heart patients has seen much success and now hospital officials would like to invite the public to visit the department and meet the people responsible for making it all possible. Hillside will host an open house in the cardiac rehab department on Wednesday, September 28 from 4:30 until 6:00.
There is no charge and those attending will have the opportunity to meet cardiologist, Dr. Arthur Constantine, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services, Brian Marks, and exercise physiologist, David Carmichael. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria, with hospital staff providing blood pressure checks, and there will be demonstrations of the exercises on the cardiac rehab equipment. All those attending will be eligible to win a FREE treadmill to given away that evening.
What is Cardiac Rehab? Cardiac Rehab Phase II is an outpatient rehabilitation program for heart patients who have recently been discharged from the hospital. The program offers supervised, progressive exercise regimens individualized to your needs. The cardiac rehab staff monitors the participating cardiac patients. Patients also have the opportunity to meet with Hillside’s Registered Dietitian concerning a more healthy diet, as well as meeting with a pharmacist to discuss any questions they may have about medications. As a Cardiac Rehab Phase II participant, the exercise sessions are scheduled three times weekly at the hospital and they also are taught an additional exercise regimen to be used at home. Before, many cardiac rehab patients were not successful because they had to drive out of town for their rehab. Hillside’s effort is designed to make sure people complete the necessary step and do it conveniently.
