New General Surgeon Joins Hillside Staff

Dr. James C. Lathrop, MD, FACS will open his general surgery practice this August in Pulaski. Dr. Lathrop is a graduate of the University of Illinois’ College of Medicine in Peoria. Prior to that, he earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Southern Illinois University. He completed his internship and general surgery residency training with Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals (now Synergy).
Dr. Lathrop is the former Medical Executive and Section Chief for the Department of Surgery at Covenant HealthCare. He currently serves as an active medical staff member there as well as at St. Mary’s of Michigan. He is also an assistant clinical professor of surgery at Michigan State University and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Lathrop holds membership in the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American Hernia Society and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Lathrop has two grown children and lives in Saginaw, Michigan. He has a passion for flying.
